Today, I was very sick - I slept in until about 3 because Kat and Kim stayed over last night.
After I woke up and ate and did all of my "i'm sleepy but awake" things, I decided I better make use of this weekend and finish up Hannah's purse.
I would like to offer advice to anyone who has to operate a sewing machine or sew things at any point. Never sew when you are sick, or when it is past one in the morning.
You will always regret it.
I've never had problems in the sense that I've hurt myself, but I make small mistakes that destroy the project.
A couple weeks ago, I made Hannah's makeup bag, and I needed to use hot-pink thread for a decorative stitch. I ran out, and was only able to do the stitch on one side of the zipper, so I told myself that it would be perfectly fine to just use light pink on the opposite side. Worried about using all of my pink thread, I figured to use pink for the part that showed and just use black underneath.
...
Black.
Please let me remind you how late this is.
So, obviously, the black showed through in small patches around the edges of the pink, not to mention that the decorative stitch itself looked retarded because the colors didn't match. I tried to fix it, but then ended up just tearing out the whole zipper and re-doing it with a simple zig-zag stitch.
Currently, I'm working on this black purse for her. I'm almost done, I just need to finish making the strap tomorrow.
I decided to stop for the night before I made any more mistakes. Making the band across the top took about four tries. So did the clasp. Exhausting! I hope it turns out okay. And that she likes them. :P
